The Coast Project is a North Tyneside Council initiative run in conjunction with The Cyrenians.
The project offers support to people aged 60+ living in North Tyneside who are experiencing housing and housing related difficulties such as:
- homeless or threatened with homelessness
- experiencing difficulties managing their own home
- returning to their home from supported accommodation, residential care, hospital, prison or emergency accommodation
- in rent or mortgage arrears or debt
- in accommodation that does not meet their needs
We help with:
- budgeting, paying bills and debt
- advocacy; someone who ‘does the talking’ on issues that the client feels unable to deal with themselves
- advice on welfare benefits
- filling in forms
- establishing links with local community and social groups
- finding furniture for empty properties
- providing information on basic home security, maintenanceand emergencies
- building self confidence
- making contact with other specialist services and providers
- befriending and emotional support
- just someoneto talk to!
