Ron Eager House

Ron Eager House operates at the sharp end – providing ‘drop in’ support to the homeless and rough sleepers, close to Newcastle city centre. Each year over 10,000 visits are made by over 750 people to the project; on a daily basis 35 - 50 people access the centre, some days as many as 100 people turn up.

A range of home comforts – often taken for granted – such as food, warmth, clothing, washing facilities and companionship are available.

Ron Eager operates an ‘open door’ policy; all visitors register and from this data we know that over 75% of those who come through our doors, men and women of all ages, are unknown to any other agency – either statutory or voluntary.

As the first point of contact for some of the hardest-to-reach groups in our society, the staff at Ron Eager House are well placed to prepare people for specialist services and to direct them towards appropriate advice, support and counselling.

Through our innovative approach to partnership working we have been able to expand the opportunities and services available. Ron Eager House now serves as a gateway to our Direct Access and Resettlement facilities and often to our Non-Residential teams which tackle major problems such as substance misuse and sex working.

Our aim is to support and empower people to do the best they can. We work along side the clients and towards what they feel will help improve there lives.
