At the Annual General Meeting in November 2009 it was agreed that Tyneside Cyrenians should be renamed ‘The Cyrenians’.
Our decision to change our name came at a time when the organisation had seen a period of considerable growth. The expansion of our work into other areas of the region such as Durham and Sunderland meant that the reference to Tyneside was no longer appropriate.
We believe that changing our name to The Cyrenians will retain the historic value of the name and also allows us to continue to develop future plans to expand our services into new areas without geographical references.
To complement the name change we also saw the launch of our brand new website.
