The Cyrenians charity store, The Thrift Boutique, brings a quality selection of donated men's, ladies and children's clothing, shoes and accessories at good value to Eldon Square, and is established as a destination for pre-loved clothing and sustainable fashion for everyone.

The shop also has a dedicated vintage section, stocking beautiful pieces from eras gone by, and gaining a reputation for original finds. All proceeds go towards the work of The Cyrenians, so every purchase made helps change lives and build futures.

By remaining true to its values, providing style and quality at affordable prices, the shop is building a strong customer base and gathering community support, with many eager to be involved.

  • Retail Volunteer

    A varied role that includes customer service & sales, till operation, stock preparation, visual merchandising, basic housekeeping and cleaning duties.
  • Customer Service & Sales Assistant

    Welcome and serve customers, help them find what they are looking for, deal with enquiries and accept donations, till & credit card machine operation and represent The Cyrenians on the high street. Work exclusively on shop floor and focus on customer care - be at the forefront of the trading team, help deliver outstanding customer service experience and for a great cause. Requires excellent communication skills.

  • Stock Processor

    Behind the scenes role focusing on preparation of donations - selecting, sorting, hanging, sizing & cubing, steaming, ticketing & pricing - requires an eye for detail - knowledge of brands and labels an advantage but not essential - physical, busy and enjoyable role.
  • Window Dresser & Visual Merchandiser

    Use your artistic flair to create displays and windows using colour, themes and messages to highlight new stock or trends, get people thinking, inspire them, and tempt them inside. Requires an awareness of manual handling techniques. A great opportunity to use your talent to give something back.
  • Shop Administrator

    To complete weekly returns & accounts, total volunteer hours and process petty cash claims - help us measure our success - work as part of a results-focused retail team - clerical experience desirable & IT skills essential.
  • Retail Volunteer Co-ordinator

    To primarily process new volunteer applications however, this brand new role could evolve further into assisting with recruitment of new volunteers and provide support/coaching to help volunteers reach their full potential.
  • Donations -Day Campaigner

    The shop sources donations by approaching local business' and community groups and asking them to join our donations campaign, where we ask their employees to donate on a dedicated Donations-Day, similar to the to the D-Day campaign on the BBC TV programme Mary Queen of Shops. This role may also include advertising promotions and the campaign from a stall on Eldon Square Mall. In addition it may include presenting the campaign to schools and community groups in the local area to gain their support.
  • Graphic Designer

    To design promotional materials for promotions, adverts, campaigns, events & windows. Background in design required.
  • Online Re-sellers

    To photograph and list products on Ebay, writing strong product descriptions, dealing with all related correspondence, enquiries, processing worldwide orders and ensuring received on time. Excellent communication and problem solving skills essential.
  • Online Marketing Volunteer

    Communicate with our supporters using social media - the store is an exciting place to be, with so many organisations working together to make it possible, all activities are now detailed on the shops Facebook page and Twitter account. We are looking for an individual who can keep our social media sites updated to include all photos from the shop's launch, events, windows, stock and ebay listings.
  • Collection Driver

    Follow up customer requests to collect donations, visit customers homes to accept donations and deliver to shop (with own car - full UK driving licence essential - travel costs reimbursed) - outstanding customer care and strong communication skills required - physically demanding role.
  • Housekeeper & Cleaner

    Complete housekeeping checks, basic cleaning and recycling - help create a safe, clean, professional working environment and keep the shop looking its very best.
  • Security Guard

    Help create a safe environment for our customers and volunteer team, help to identify and prevent theft - requires friendly and approachable individuals.
  • Jewellery, book or antique enthusiasts

    We are always looking for volunteers to look after specialist departments here at the shop whether it be music or collectibles - you don't need to be an expert you can learn as you go. So if you are passionate about toys or menswear we would love to hear from you.
  • Stylist

    To work on photo shoots, fashion shows, street styling & vintage markets. Do you adore clothes, fashion, vintage??? Do you know your trends? Then the Thrift Boutique needs your help. Models, make up artists, photographers and hairdressers also wanted. Passion and energy essential.
  • Fashion Journalist

    To write features, articles and press releases about the shop for newspapers, magazine and blog about the store and advocate pre-loved and ethical fashion - you never know where it may lead...
