Dozens of volunteers from a Morpeth-base knitting shop have kindly donated a huge number of hand-made clothing items to The Cyrenians.
Treacle Wool Shop in Chantry Place, Morpeth decided to put to good use their leftover yarn and encourage other local knitting groups to knit items for local charities and hospitals. Packs including knitting patterns were given out and thus Treacle Cares was born.

Kym Hewison, one of the owners of Treacle Wool Shop, said: “I have lots of ideas and you’re never sure how people will respond to them, but this one couldn’t have worked out better.
“The majority of people are kind-hearted and this project has shown that they want to make a contribution when there are good causes involved.
“We love that the basic idea is so simple. People collect a pack, knit whatever the item is then return it to us, and we hand it to the charity. What we ask them to make is based on what the charities told us.”
The Cyrenians received a large selection of knitted gloves, socks and hats which will be put to great use in the cold weather period for those who are homeless or sleeping rough.
We can't thank Treacle Wool Shop and their knitting volunteers enough for their generosity.
