Siemens Energy Service teams up with The Cyrenians

Global engineering company pledges support to their ‘Charity of the Year’

Global engineering and technology company, Siemens, is joining forces with a leading regional homelessness charity, The Cyrenians and has chosen the award winning organisation as its ‘Charity of the Year’ for 2011.

Siemens Energy Service, one of the largest employers in the north east, will embark on a number of fundraising activities with its staff and customers over the next 12 months to raise money in support of the work of the Charity.

Martin McKenna, Head of Onshore Wind Service, Siemens Energy Service UK&I, said:

“We are delighted to formalise our support of The Cyrenians in this way. We have followed their work over a number of years; it is extremely valuable and effective and often goes unnoticed.

“Siemens is a big believer in giving something back to society and in being part of the local communities where it operates. The support which Siemens Energy Service is giving to The Cyrenians is very much in keeping with that. We’re very committed to supporting local charities that do valuable work in the north east and The Cyrenians does a great deal of good work close to our offices and factory in Newcastle.

“We’re planning that our fundraising efforts will be fun-packed and we’re looking forward to welcoming lots of people and helping them to get involved.

Keith Nicholson, Assistant Director of The Cyrenians, said:

“We are delighted that Siemens has chosen us to be their sponsored charity in 2011. To have such a significant and well-respected organisation backing our work is a great accolade.”

Despite the tough economic climate, support for The Cyrenians has remained high. The Charity has grown significantly in recent years with more and more people accessing its services."

For over forty years The Cyrenians has been dedicated to engaging vulnerable and disadvantaged people, offering them the chance to be involved in a wide range of ground-breaking projects which can make a real difference to their lives.

In 2010 The Cyrenians was named one of the best organisations to work for in the UK, building upon it having been recognised as National Charity of the Year in 2008.

If you would like to find out how you could get involved or take part in any of the events organised as part of The Cyrenians, Siemens group partnership throughout 2011 please contact Keith Nicholson on 0191 256 2915.
