Global engineering and technology company Siemens seized the day having The Cyrenians as its ‘Charity of the Year’ for 2011.
Morpeth Golf Club saw 18 teams enter in The Cyrenians Annual golf tournament, ‘The John Thompson Classic’.
Companies fielding teams included; Benfield Motors, United Carlton, Haines Watts, Virgin, Oliver Builders Ltd, CB Electrical, Resolver Finance, and Siemens Uk.
All proceeds from the day will help to fund Ron Eager House, The Cyrenians day centre in Newcastle which runs ‘an open door’ policy and welcomes over 10,000 visits from homeless and vulnerable people each year providing home comforts which many of us take for granted; such as food, shelter, and washing facilities.

Martin McKenna, Head of Onshore Wind Service, Siemens Energy Service UK and Ireland, said:
“Siemens chose The Cyrenians as our Charity of the year for 2011 as we have followed their work over a number of years; it is extremely valuable and effective and often goes unnoticed.
“Siemens is a big believer in supporting the local communities in which we operate. Ron Eager house provides essential services for the homeless and vulnerable people in the North East and we are proud to sponsor events such as this."
Ross Waldie, Employment Services Team Manager at Business Action on Homelessness said:
“We would like to thank all the teams for a great day, especially the sponsoring company; Siemens Energy Service. Business Action on Homelessness tries to remove the barriers the homeless people face when looking for work, we are very pleased that the companies involved today support us."
