‘Ready for Work’ team leads Charity’s expansion
The Cyrenians has opened new offices in the centre of Middlesbrough from which it will serve the Tees Valley area.
The Charity, which was Voted ‘National Charity of the Year’ in 2008, helps vulnerable people to tackle issues such as alcohol and drug dependency, homelessness, lack of training, unemployment and exploitation, therefore supporting them away from chaotic lifestyles to stable, self-sustaining independence.
The Cyrenians new offices are being hosted at the North East Chamber of Commerce’s (NECC) Tees Valley HQ at Commerce House, Exchange Square in Middlesbrough.

Initially the services available will focus on employment and training; The Cyrenians delivers the ‘Ready for Work Programme’ on behalf of Business in the Community.
Businesses in Tees Valley can become involved through a wide range of work related support such as help with writing cvs, interview techniques and practice, coaching, the loan of rooms or other facilities, short term work placements and, of course, ultimately employment.
Local employer, Iain Sim, Chief Executive of Coast & Country Housing said:
“The Cyrenians will bring valuable resources and expertise into the community. We are already exploring how we can work together and we are keen to consider offering work placements through the ‘Ready for Work’ programme.”
Headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, The Cyrenians has continued to expand the reach and range of its services, despite many ‘Third Sector’ organisations suffering massive cuts following the Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review.
James Ramsbotham, Chief Executive of NECC said:
“We are delighted to be hosting The Cyrenians new office at our Middlesbrough base. This Charity really delivers results; staff at The Cyrenians are truly expert in their work.
“From experience I can tell you it is so heartening to see how people can turn their lives around when they properly engage with caring and compassionate people who really know how to support them.”
Stephen Bell, Chief Executive of The Cyrenians, added:
“We’re delighted to be opening an office in Middlesbrough; this is a significant expansion for The Cyrenians.
“As an organisation we are both experts and facilitators; we often work in collaboration with other experts and we are highly skilled in drawing together effective partnerships.
“We’re very much looking forward to developing new relationships in the Tees Valley area and, of course, helping to Change Lives and Build Futures.”
