Recovery Centre

The Newcastle Gateshead Recovery Centre will open in Spring 2011. Its aim is to put a face on recovery and to build upon existing recovery networks in the North East. The Recovery Centre is based on the Newcastle Quayside and at its core there is a belief that people can and do recover from Drug and Alcohol Addiction.

The Recovery Centre will be anchored in the heart of the community and will provide a physical location where people who are on their recovery journey can be supported to move forward. For those who may be struggling to navigate the treatment system, support will be given.

What Services Do We Provide?

The Services that will be provided are:

  • Peer Based Recovery Support Services
  • Telephone Recovery Support
  • All Recovery Support Groups
  • Recovery Orientated Employment Support
  • Workshops and Training
  • Recovery Orientated Social Activities

The Recovery centre is not a treatment agency and will not provide any clinical services. It could however point people in the right direction to access appropriate support.

It is not a drop in centre or a place for people to hang out and the centre is not seeking to duplicate existing resources.

Those who access the centre will be there to actively work on their recovery or help another person with theirs.

Who Can Access The Service?

The service will be open to anyone in Newcastle and Gateshead who deem themselves to be in recovery. It is expected that those people who do access the service are not under the influence of illegal substances or alcohol. The centre will be a place of safety for those moving forward.

We welcome all forms of recovery programmes and do not favour any one means of recovery.

Volunteers

Volunteers will play a vital role in the running of the centre. For anyone who is interested in volunteering please contact us.
